Knox High Senior Living

This old high school building sat empty in the center of downtown Knoxville for years until the City decided to find a way to save it a preserve its historical significance. 

Once approved to become an Independent Living Facility, this project took 4 years of tedious renovations to preserve it's historical features while installing the updates both in architecture and interior design to make it a stunning and award-wining space to live. 

Inspired by the Roaring 20s design style prevalent when this school was operational, our team of designers took a contemporary perspective with the interiors with incredible results. With custom carpets, furniture, and millwork details, the interior of this commercial home is truly one-of-a-kind. 

Each space was meticulously designed to serve it's new residents including many areas to sit and visit, an open kitchen for classes and parties, a billiards area, two indoor courtyards (one with a projector for movie nights) and even a featured history gallery with pictures of the school as it once was and honoring those students that served in WWII. 

Truly a masterpiece of new and old, it was a privelage for Whitney (owner of Practical Charm) to be part of this project with DKLevy Architecture & Design. 

Legacy Village of Cleveland

Much like Northshore Heights, this project was a new construction assisted living and memory care facility. This beautiful home for seniors is nestled in the hills of Cleveland Tennessee.

The style was a contemporary craftsman, focusing on bringing in organic elements and tones such as the stained wood, stone fireplaces, and leafy or branch-like patterns to compliment the surrounding scenery.

Everything was custom from the upholstery to the millwork, making this residential style home feel very luxurious and cozy for it's senior residents.

Whitney Scott was part of the Design Team at DKLevy Architecture & Design in completing this project.

Northshore Heights

This project was a new construction assisted living and memory care facility. The developer had acquired a beautiful spot of land just off the Tennessee river in West Knoxville. 

The style was a contemporary craftsman, focusing on bringing in organic elements and tones such as the stained wood, stone fireplaces, and leafy or branch-like patterns to compliment the surrounding scenery and call to the Smoky Mountains. 

Everything was custom from the upholstery to the millwork, making this residential style home feel very luxurious and cozy for it's senior residents. 

Whitney Scott was part of the Design Team at DKLevy Architecture & Design in completing this project. 

Dominion Senior Living of Athens TN

This new construction Senior Living facility is a beautiful contemporary farm house inspired design. Built on the family-owned farm property of the client, we truly enjoyed bringing in farm house concepts into this overall contemporary design. 

We especially enjoyed staging the model room apartments with this same concept, feature leathers, cow hides, plaids, light wood tones, and a few farm animals to call to the farm land that this building now sits on. 

The Atrio Coworking Space

The owners of this co-working space came to us because the space felt incomplete and clunky. They really wanted the space to serve their clients well and feel modern, comfortable, and bright. 

All this space needed was a little re-arranging, a few key furniture pieces, and some wall decor to really liven up the space and better function as an office. In the words of our client, "it now feels complete" and has received incredible feedback from all their clients.

I’ve always dreamed of having a clean, modernist home, and I’m happy to say that Alice and her team at Atelier Cohen led the way to making that dream a reality! I couldn’t be more happy with the project, my house looks like it could be featured in a Kinfolk magazine. I had the pleasure of working with Alice on redecorating my childhood home that hadn’t been touched up since I was a teen in the 80’s.
